Rental terms and conditions

0. Acceptance and binding nature

Signing the contract or paying any amount (booking, deposit or down payment) implies full and binding acceptance of these general and particular rental conditions.

Signing or paying also implies consent to the processing of personal data in accordance with our privacy policy.

1. Driver requirements

The driver must be at least 25 years old and hold a valid category B driving licence held for a minimum of 2 years.

It is compulsory to provide the documentation required by the authorities. If the document is not in Spanish, English or French, an international driving licence must be presented. Foreign tourists must provide proof of address and a return ticket during their stay.

The customer declares that the details provided are correct and complete, and is solely responsible for their accuracy.

2. Rental duration

The minimum duration depends on the season: low season 3 days, mid season 5 days and high season 7 or 15 days. On bank-holiday weekends and public holidays the minimum may vary. In August, full weeks apply according to the rules published when booking.

The rental starts and ends on the dates and at the times stated in the contract. Once that period has elapsed, the contract is terminated and the renter must return the vehicle in perfect condition.

3. Included mileage

Included limit: 300 km cumulative per day on rentals of 3 to 7 days, and 500 km cumulative per day on rentals of more than 8 days (except promotions).

Kilometres exceeding the limit are charged at €0.30/km. An extra 600 km pack can be purchased for €100.

4. Pick-up and return

Pick-up and return take place at El Globo's premises or at the corresponding branch, during business hours and subject to availability.

Business hours Lleida and Zaragoza: Monday to Friday 11:00–13:00 and 16:00–18:00; Saturdays 10:00–12:00. Barcelona: pick-ups 10:00–12:00. There are no pick-ups on Sundays. In mid/high season times may change.

Pick-up included at no charge: 11:00–13:00. Handover outside those hours: €40 (with 24 h notice and subject to availability).

Latest return time: 17:00 (key handover), Monday to Sunday. Return later than 17:00: €20 for each hour of delay, charged as an extra to the card.

An unnotified delay from 17:00 may be charged as an additional day. Unauthorised delays of more than 12 hours may be penalised at triple the daily rate, deducted from the security deposit.

Pick-up/return at an airport, train or bus station carries a surcharge of €60 to €250 depending on the destination, unless otherwise agreed in a promotion.

The vehicle explanation is given via video tutorials, which the renter must watch before pick-up. On handover day only specific questions are answered, preferably outside the vehicle.

5. Booking and payment

The booking is confirmed with payment of the deposit (100% of the total, or 50% with Flex cancellation if pick-up is more than 60 days away) via the virtual TPV (Redsys), bank transfer or another method indicated by El Globo. The remainder is paid before pick-up.

The requested sleeping capacity is guaranteed, not one exact specific model. El Globo may replace the vehicle with another of the same category/sleeping capacity or higher on handover day.

6. Insurance and excess

All vehicles include fully comprehensive insurance with an excess of €2,000 per claim, plus 24 h travel assistance in Europe (according to the policy).

Optional excess-reduction cover, with the same rate across the whole fleet: Comfort €20/day (€800 excess); Happy €35/day (€400 excess); Supercover €70/day (€0 excess). Only one cover option may be purchased per booking; it is the one shown in the checkout summary and in the confirmation email.

Actual cover is determined by the policy. Exclusions, negligence, misuse or damage not covered are payable in full by the renter. Each instance of damage on different sides may be considered an independent claim.

In accidents involving a third party, it must be reported immediately and the European accident statement form sent. Until the insurers resolve the matter, damages up to the excess limit may be charged.

7. Security deposit

Security deposit of €950 per claim, blocked at pick-up exclusively with a credit card (debit cards are not accepted). Without a valid card, El Globo may cancel the contract without a refund.

The deposit is released within 3 to 7 days after return, unless there is a claim or damage. If damage cannot be assessed immediately, El Globo has up to 30 days to return the balance after deducting repairs or other authorised charges.

8. Cancellations and changes

If the renter cancels 45 days or more before pick-up, El Globo refunds the full amount paid to the same card. With less than 45 days' notice there is no cash refund: a voucher may be issued for the amount paid, redeemable within 12 months, subject to availability and to the contract restrictions.

A booking change may be requested up to 21 days before pick-up. With less than 21 days' notice there is no right to a change or a voucher. The voucher may carry a €25 administration fee.

Flex cancellation (optional, €5 per rental day, purchased when booking): allows cancellation up to 21 days before pick-up with a full refund of the deposit paid, and date changes up to 7 days before with no administration fee. The cost of Flex itself is non-refundable, and the terms of this paragraph prevail over those of the previous one.

A late start or an early end at the customer's decision does not entitle them to a refund. Outside the cases above (45-day refund or Flex cancellation), the booking amount is not refundable in cash by El Globo; cancellation insurance may be taken out with third parties.

9. Cleaning

The vehicle must be returned clean, with the chemical toilet and the grey/clean water tanks emptied. Otherwise: €100 exterior cleaning, €100 interior cleaning and €100 emptying/cleaning of toilet and tanks.

Optional packs: traveller-help cleaning pack €70 (does not include emptying the toilet/water); pet cleaning pack €70. Travelling with pets requires prior authorisation; smoking is prohibited. Smells, hair or traces of tobacco: penalty charge of €180 plus treatment costs.

10. Breakdowns, assistance and claims

24 h assistance in Europe according to the policy. In the event of a breakdown or an accident, the assistance service and El Globo (621 225 690) must be notified.

If the vehicle cannot be delivered or is immobilised for reasons beyond the customer's control, a redeemable voucher will be issued for the days not enjoyed (no cash refund of the rental).

Any on-road repair requires prior authorisation from the technical service and an invoice made out to AUTOCARAVANAS Y CAMPERS EL GLOBO SL (CIF B25846791, Ctra. N-II Km 447, 25181 Soses).

11. Joint liability and use of the vehicle

The holder of the guarantee card and the persons named in the contract are jointly and severally liable for the amounts due.

It is forbidden to use the vehicle illegally, to carry more people than permitted, to lend it to unauthorised third parties, or to cover logos or alter stickers.

Tolls, fines and penalties during the rental are payable by the renter, plus €15 administrative handling per fine/toll processed.

Loss of keys or documentation: €250. Fuel and AdBlue are delivered full and must be returned full; if not, the refill is charged plus a €10 handling fee.

El Globo may keep a copy of the keys and remove the vehicle in the event of breach. Every vehicle is fitted with GPS.

12. Parking for your own vehicle

The free storage service for your own car during the rental (Lleida and Zaragoza) is at the customer's own risk. In Barcelona the car park is third-party and subject to availability; El Globo accepts no liability for damage.

13. Traveller registration

By legal obligation, the identification details of travellers (document, date of birth, nationality and address) are collected in order to pass them to the Mossos d'Esquadra / SARCAT in accordance with vehicle rental regulations in Catalonia (RD 933/2021 and applicable regional regulations).

14. Privacy

Data is processed confidentially in order to manage the contract, invoicing and legal obligations. You may exercise your rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction and portability by writing to rent@autocaravanaselglobo.com, and you may lodge a complaint with the AEPD.
